About

From 1997-2007 I worked at the Independent Schools Information Service (ISIS) and then the Independent Schools Council (ISC). Starting in the national press office, I then moved on to the London & South East Regional office, initially as Press Officer and then as Marketing Communications Manager where I was responsible for promoting the 560 member independent schools to prospective parents – in print, online and face-to-face at events. I visited hundreds of schools during this period and spent lots of time advising members on all aspects of their marketing and PR activity.

From September 2007 until June 2016 I  provided marketing and communications support to a number of independent and state schools and small organisations. I was retained as Marketing Consultant to St Dunstan’s College in South East London between 2007 and 2015. I was responsible for putting together and delivering the school’s marketing strategy, setting the marketing budget and guiding the work of the Head of Marketing and Admissions. A robust and regular programme of market research was put in place together with constant evaluation of advertising and other paid-for marketing channels. During my time at the College, I also set up and managed the school’s profiles on social media channels and managed the planning and development of their current website in collaboration with external suppliers.

Since 2013, I have been working with Limpsfield Grange, the only specialist state school for girls with autism in the UK. The school was the subject of a high profile ITV1 documentary in the Summer of 2015, “Girls with Autism”. I manage their social media and PR on an ongoing basis as well as other projects, including market research with parents and girls.

In 2003 I became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations on completion of the CIPR Diploma. This means I have an appreciation of PR at a strategic level in both the commercial and non-commercial world. I regularly attend conferences and training courses to enhance my skills and develop my understanding of PR as a discipline.

In June 2016 I became part-time Marketing Manager at The Mall School in Twickenham. This now takes up most of my time although I do occasionally take on small projects for non-competitor schools as well as continuing to work for Limpsfield Grange. I am enjoying the new challenge of being “in house” and the competitive London prep market in particular!
